- Yup. You've got it. Nothing's perfect, no matter how hard we
- try. Unfortunately, us consumers don't do the research needed to
- determine if a product is suitable. That's why I like shareware
- and playable demos. I almost never buy a product without serious
- research into it.
-
- Of course, in your example, I'd at least take the car on a test
- drive before I put down money on it. I do the same (or similar)
- with software.
-
- If a product is bad enough to be unusable, people can learn about
- that real quickly and sales dry up quick (one would hope)....until
- news comes out that a new version is available that's reasonably
- fixed.
-
- It is a generous programmer (and a PR-sensitive one) who will
- release bug fixes to the current specification of the program. I
- am always appreciative of programmers who do this. Just ask
- Softwood and Soft-Logik. They have generously released bug-fixes
- (Softwood mails them!) free of charge (well, almost, Soft-Logik
- asked for $10 for a subscription for internet-bereft Amiga users).
